when others are coming home ...
3DOG camping Winter Camp 2016
exclusively for members of our pack
Date: 4th – 7th February 2016
Location: Braunlage in the Harz region of Germany
Venue: Braunlage campsite
On-site leader: Wim de Roos
Maximum no. of participants: 25 tent trailers and rooftop tents
Thursday, 4th February
From 3pm guests arrive in the Braunlage campsite, and the 3DOG camping Winter Camp is set up. Wim, the 3DOG camping leader, will decide who goes where!
After set-up, you will have time to find your bearings in the campsite.
We can get to know each other over dinner from 6pm, with hot dogs and sides at the campfire all evening long. Then Wim welcomes everyone officially with a schnapps and kiddies punch!
Friday, 5th February
From 8 there‘s a substantial breakfast buffet in the restaurant to give us sustenance for the day ahead, with fresh bread rolls, ham, bacon, cheese, marmalade, eggs, juice, coffee, tea and much more.
We meet at 10 am in the camp and travel in our own vehicles to the gondola lift car park. This is the starting point for our trip on Germany‘s longest toboggan run.
All riders travel with the gondola lift to the mid-station. It‘s only 150 metres from here to the starting point for the toboggan run at the Rodelhaus, where you can fortify yourself with slow food or hot drinks (not included) before the lightning descent ahead. Then we take to sledges down the 1,600 metre long run, which has staged German toboggan championships, and on to the gondola lift at the bottom. Terrific fun all round for young and old!
Afterwards there is free time for the family or for individual activities.
Braunlage is among the oldest and most renowned winter sports locations in Germany, with its position at 570 metres above sea level ensuring a high probability of snow. The wonderful ski region of Wurmberg in the heart of the Harz mountains awaits you. On with the ice skates and off you go in the ice rink, or simply take time out to shop in Braunlage. Or just enjoy the winter wonderland around you in the campsite.
From 5 in the evening, once it‘s dusk, we start our romantic torch-lit ramble through the magical winter countryside. Afterwards we let a glass of hot mulled wine warm us up in the restaurant and sit down to an indulgent 3-course meal. We then make our way back to the campsite and heat ourselves up by the campfire.
Saturday, 6th February
From 8am there is once again the splendid breakfast buffet to enjoy.
We meet at 10am in the Winter Camp and set about building the largest snowman in the Harz mountains! Then lunch is served from a pot by the campfire: a hearty goulash soup along with crispy bread.
From 2pm archery is the order of the day – lots of fun guaranteed!
Now for some free time. Eat with the family in the restaurant or do your own cooking in the campsite. (Note: unfortunately CampinGaz doesn‘t work in winter!)
Join us later on by the campfire, where we’re bound to have plenty of adventures and tales to share with each other. And when it gets too cold, it‘s off to bed ...
