Inspired by extensive travel, an enthusiasm for the easy things in life and a love for freedom, we founded the company 3DOG camping. Long trips through the Australian Outback taught us very quickly what is important and needed in a good camping vacation. The way of life of 3DOG camping originated in the red continent.
Throughout the history of Australia freedom and life in the vast expanses of unspoiled nature was always important. Even in the unofficial national hymn "Waltzing Matilda" the Australian is singing passionately about these topics.
The surreal story of a "jolly swagman" is told in a typical self-mocking slang. He travels with his "swag" – a simple sleeping mat, made of canvas. This mat bearing the endearing nickname of Matilda is still frequently used and treasured in the Australian outback. After a fight with a sheep rancher, the traveling swagman chose death in a "Billabong" (watering hole) over the loss of his freedom.
Even early explorers, adventurers and gold miners used waterproof canvas as a protection against the wind and foul weather. This canvas material has been further developed and perfected to obtain what we use today in our tents: a material at its best in weatherproofing and breath ability.
3DOG camping uses only the highest quality of Australian canvas that is just as well adapted to the extreme climate of the outback as it is to the high humidity of tropical regions. For such a strong material, our comparatively mild European climate is an easy vacation.
